HS graduation rates increase… but are still dismal

Two interesting graphics that I found linked on the Educated Nation Blog:

1.  HS graduation rates across 50 majors cities.  Numbers are generally up, but are still quite tragic — less than 50% in quite a few cities.

2.  Unemployment and income rates by degree status in 2008.   It would be interesting to see the equivalent graph for the first quarter of 2009, to see how the economic slump has affected groups different.  I know NACE indicated a dramatic difference between the country as a whole vs. college grads in their recent research, and I’m sure that would bear out in such a chart.
