Word cloud for your resume

For the visually-oriented among us, here’s a neat tip I’d never previously considered.  You may be familiar with the idea of a tag cloud — those little groupings of words that some blogs use to represent how much they are talking about specific topics.   I read in a blog today (apologies, because I can’t recall where) about using a similar “word cloud” to analyze your resume and/or cover letter.

Using a site like wordle.net, you can copy and paste your resume into the site and it will give you a graphic representation of the frequency with which you are using targeted words.  Again, if you’re a visual person, as I am, it’s a nice snapshot to see how well your language is actually reflecting your personal brand.

I just did my own resume (bullets only) to take a gander. Click on the image below to see the full word cloud of my experience.  Apparently I use the word “including” too often in my resume!
