Brand availability

I came across a helpful tool about six weeks ago, but I’m only now thinking to talk about it more widely.  As anyone who is dipping their toes into the social media pool knows, part of creating your online personal brand is being consistent with your profiles and usernames.  I, for example, own and use the following:

I actually own others, as well.  But, I’ve decided to limit myself to those sites in terms of active use.  Obviously there are hundreds more in which you could potentially participate.  But, thanks to namechk you can now check the availability of your preferred  profile name on nearly 70 sites at once.   If you’re just getting started, it would be worth checking this site first for widespread availability of your preferred “vanity URL” before signing up.
